Ethernet Switch Performance Specifications. 1.1 Physical Properties: 1.1.1 Weight - Threshold 6 lbs, Objective 3 lbs 1.1.2 Dimensions or Volume: 1.1.2.1 Length - Threshold 12 inches, Objective 10 inches 1.1.2.2 Width - Threshold 9 inches, Objective 6 inches 1.1.2.3 Height - Threshold 5 inches, Objective 3 inches 1.1.2.4 Volume - Threshold 540 cubic inches, Objective 180 cubic inches 1.2 Ethernet Ports ? Threshold 10, Objective 16 1.3 Power ? 28VDC (MIL-STD-704A), 200 ms ho ld-up for power interruptions 1.4 Basic Description. This performance specification describes the performance requirements for a managed, Layer-2, 10/100/1000 Base-T commercial Ethernet Switch to be used for a non-flight critical avionics bus on the A/MH-6M aircraft. The Ethernet Switch shall have a minimum of 10 commercial ports that are fully interoperable with other commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) equipment. The Ethernet Switch shall be packaged as a single line replaceable unit (LRU). One Ethernet switch is required for each aircraft. The Ethernet Switch shall be required to pass MIL-STD-810F environmental testing and MIL-STD-461E E3 testing. The Ethernet switch shall be support mirroring, ARP, IP, IGMP (ping and multicast at a minimum), UDP, TCP, and SNMP. Table 2 lists the required standards and desired standards for the switch. 1.4.1 Ethernet Ports: The Ethernet Switch shall have a minimum of 10 commercial full-duplex ports. At least two ports shall be 10/100/1000 Base-T, the remainder shall be 10/100 Base-T ports. Ports should comply with IEEE 802.3 (10/100 base-T) and IEEE 802.3z (1000 Base-T). 1.4.2 Additional ports: The Ethernet Switch shall have one non-dedicated data load port. An out of band serial management port and a 10/100 Base-T debug port are desired. 1.4.3 Connectors: The Ethernet switch shall have MIL-SPEC connectors suitable for aviation use. Connectors shall be capable of utilizing copper to 1000 Base-T ports. 1.4.4 Software: The system shall be capable of power-up built in test (PBIT). PBIT results shall be reported via SNMP. The software should allow flexible network management, monitoring, and configuration capability via Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) interfaces. 1.4.5 Power: The Ethernet switch shall comply with MIL-STD-704A 28VDC aircraft power interface requirements. The switch operations shall not be affected by voltage transients down to 15 VDC or up to 40 VDC lasting up to 200 ms. Power dissipation shall be no greater than 40 watts during peak power operation. 1.4.6 Cooling: The switch shall not require active cooling and should be designed to operate continuously between -40? C and +55? C. 1.4.7 Compliant Aircraft Data Network: The Ethernet Switch shall be fully operable in a Compliant Aircraft Data Network in-accordance-with ARINC 664. 1.4.8 Switching Services: The Ethernet Switch shall discard corrupted frames. 1.4.9 Frame Forwarding: The Ethernet Switch shall be designed to avoid head-of-line blocking. 1.4.10 Fault Detection: The Ethernet Switch shall monitor the status of its centralized functions as well as network interfaces in-accordance-with (IAW) IEEE STD 802.3 and 802.1D. The requirement is for a commercial commodity purchase for which the Government has provided a Statement of Objectives to allow for a full and open competition in accordance with FAR Part 13.5. Firms that feel they can provide this commodity or equal are encouraged to submit a proposal when the solicitation is released. The estimated release date of the solicitation is 16 November 2007. Copies of the solicitation will be available in FedBizOps when released. Questions prior to solicitation release can be directed via e-mail to contact@example.gov.
