The contract involves the sole source procurement of five Sheet Metal Joint Task Kits, Part Number K-1000, from Fastening Systems International (FSI), located in Sonoma, California. Each kit includes a Sheet Metal Fastener Removal Kit, a Material Hold Prep Kit, and a Fastener Installation Kit. The procurement is justified based on FSI being the only authorized manufacturer and distributor of these kits, as approved by the Army Engineering Division at Redstone Arsenal, Alabama, and the kits are essential for maintenance of mission-critical aircraft. This acquisition is being conducted under statutory authority that allows for limited competition due to the unique source of supply. The procurement falls under NAICS code 332212 with a small business size standard of 500 employees. Though this is a sole source requirement and no formal solicitation will be issued, interested firms may submit written notifications by a specified deadline providing evidence of their capability to fulfill the requirement. The Government retains discretion to decide whether to pursue competition based on such responses. If no viable responses are received, negotiations will proceed directly with FSI. The responsible contracting office is located at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, with designated points of contact available for inquiries.
