The U.S. Air Force, through the Defense Logistics Agency Aviation, is seeking market input on the procurement of a Nose Wheel Steering Unit for the F-5 aircraft, identified by NSN 1620-01-139-6672 and part number 6-43902-509, with an estimated requirement of 55 units. This notice serves as a combined Request for Information and Synopsis, not a solicitation for proposals, and is intended to assess the availability of commercial or nondevelopmental items and enhance competition. The requirement is classified under NAICS code 336413, with an estimated delivery schedule of 18 months after award, and the solicitation number is SPRHA1-25-R-0244. Responses are due by February 21, 2025, and the notice will be archived on February 21, 2026. The Government has determined that the part is available only from a limited number of sources due to proprietary data restrictions and that reverse engineering is uneconomical, justifying sole-source procurement under 10 U.S.C. 2304(C)(1), with no set-aside planned for small businesses. The Government does not own or have access to the technical data required to source the part from alternate suppliers and cannot provide specifications, plans, or drawings. Interested parties, including small businesses seeking subcontracting opportunities, are encouraged to reach out to Circor (91816) as a potential prime contractor. Although the Government does not intend to apply commercial item acquisition policies under Part 12, respondents may still propose commercial alternatives within 30 days of this notice. Foreign participation is prohibited at the prime contractor level, but some items under this acquisition may be eligible under Free Trade Agreements. All responsible sources may submit capability statements or quotations for consideration, though no payment will be made for information submitted under this notice.
