The Lakehurst Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division is seeking to procure sixty tilt sensor spares, part number RLG0959-02, to support the Aircraft Landing and Recovery Equipment Program. These sensors are critical for stabilizing the optics of the Long Range Line-up System, which ensures aircraft are guided to the correct landing spots on aircraft carriers. Because the existing sensors are obsolete, a new design is currently being prototyped and tested. The government intends to award this contract to Raytheon Technical Services Co. on a sole-source basis under the authority of 10 U.S.C. 2304(C)(1) and FAR 6.302-1. Raytheon is the sole manufacturer of the system and holds the proprietary design rights and technical data necessary for production. While the government may consider proposals from other responsible sources to determine if competitive procurement is viable, the final decision remains at the government's discretion.
