The Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division Lakehurst is seeking to procure a Spindle & Knuckle Assembly specifically designed for the A/S32A-42 Tow Tractors. The Government plans to negotiate this contract with PDI Ground Support Systems, Inc., based in Cleveland, Ohio, who is recognized as the sole manufacturer and designer of the steering knuckle for this particular model. Due to the proprietary nature of the component and the absence of Government-held technical data or drawings, the acquisition will be conducted under the sole-source authority outlined in FAR 6.302-1. This procurement effort is currently in the pre-solicitation phase, and while the notice invites other interested firms to express their capability to fulfill the requirement, it does not constitute a request for competitive proposals. Responses from interested parties will be considered within fifteen days following the publication of the synopsis, but the Government retains full discretion in deciding whether or not to open the requirement to competition based on these responses. This step is primarily intended to assess market interest and inform the Government’s decision-making process regarding competitive procurement. The contract is administered by the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division under the Department of Defense, with points of contact identified for further communication. The solicitation is classified under NAICS code 339999, reflecting miscellaneous manufacturing, and the work will be coordinated through Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst in New Jersey.
