A cooperative initiative is being organized by multiple military medical logistics agencies based at Fort Detrick, Maryland, including DMSB, USAMMA, NAVMEDLOGCOM, AFMESA, and AFMLO, to facilitate Vendor Day events in 2007. These events allow vendors specializing in medical equipment and supplies to showcase their products directly to representatives from these agencies, with an emphasis on items suitable for austere medical environments such as field hospitals and ships. Participation is limited to the first 20 vendors per event who must register with the designated coordinator, specify the products they will present, and comply with display restrictions such as limited space, no additional shelters, and a 5-amp power draw limit. These informal exhibit-style events do not include formal demonstration slots, will not imply product approval by any service organization, and prioritize strategic market analysis rather than support for conventional medical facilities. Vendor Day is scheduled on five separate occasions throughout 2007, each focused on specific categories of medical products, ranging from intravenous equipment, airway management devices, and oxygen generation systems, to field sinks, organizational systems, and medical consumables. Each event is held at the Hotdome on Fort Detrick between 0800 and 1200 hours, with individual points of contact assigned to manage vendor participation and coordination. Vendors are responsible for all materials and setup requirements, including tables, chairs, display aids, and handouts, as no on-site copying services are available. Participation requires attendance by government sales representatives, aligning with the military’s focus on equipment viable under extreme and challenging conditions. The scheduling and venue arrangements remain subject to change by the Vendor Day planning committee based on mission requirements.
