OPWDD has a need for a qualified individual to provide Sign Language Interpreter Services for a Willowbrook class member.  A Willowbrook class member requires a sign language interpreter experienced in this individual’s “dialect.”  Such interpretation is necessary to achieve a practicable level of informed consent pursuant to the principles of compliance as written in 633.11 of the New York Codes, Rules and Regulations. This Willowbrook class member has developed a very personal style of communication, and this interpreter has substantial experience with this class member.  The comfort level between the two enables a more successful level of communication. The Consumer Advisory Board (“CAB”), created pursuant to the Stipulation and Order of 1991 and the subsequent Permanent Injunction of 1993, has responsibility for advocacy on behalf of Willowbrook class members.  The CAB has advocated for this interpreter to fill this role with this Willowbrook class member.  OPWDD does not have the qualified staff and/or ability to perform these services.  These services are necessary to achieve our agency’s mission.    Reason for advertising exemption: Single Source Award recipient: CENTER FOR DISABILITY RIGHTS, INC. Any questions or comments regarding this notice of sole-source, single-source, or procurement otherwise exempt from advertising in the NYS Contract Reporter should be directed to the contact person listed for the contracting agency or public authority. Ad end date:01/10/2024 Contract term: 3/25/2024 - 3/24/2029 County(ies): Monroe Location: Various locations
