The New York State Education Department's Office of Cultural Education is issuing a request for proposals to secure scientific bedrock coring and drilling services for the New York State Geological Survey and New York State Museum from 2026 to 2031. The contract aims to support geological mapping and mineral resource investigations across various regions of New York, primarily focusing on northern and eastern parts of the state. The project involves collecting drill cores during the spring, summer, and fall seasons, with the possibility of awarding up to two contracts—one primary and one secondary—to qualified vendors. The total contract value is estimated to range between five and ten million dollars, with a five-year term beginning May 1, 2026, and concluding April 30, 2031. Interested vendors must submit their proposals by December 2, 2025, via an online form, with questions regarding the RFP due by October 28, 2025. The procurement process emphasizes limited subcontracting, capping it at 30% of the total contract budget, and specifies that the awarded contracts will not be set aside for service-disabled veteran-owned businesses, nor are there MWBE participation goals. The contract will be open to all New York State counties, and previous experience with similar drilling projects, such as those conducted by Aardvark Drilling, Inc., will be considered. The designated contacts for inquiries are Robert Feranec, Andrew Kozlowski, and Adam Kutryb, with the latter serving as the primary point of contact for contract management.
