210-RFP-HCHS- Stair Removal and Replacement

The Hertford County Board of Education is seeking design-build services for the demolition and replacement of two exterior stairs at Hertford County High School in Ahoskie, North Carolina. The project involves the design and construction of new two-story steel and concrete stairs featuring railings and guardrails, with a goal of delivering a high-quality, turn-key facility. The anticipated budget for the project is 150,000 dollars, and the work is scheduled to begin in November 2026 and be completed by July 2027 to ensure the stairs are usable before the start of the 2027-28 school year. All work must comply with North Carolina Department of Public Instruction requirements. Selection will be based on a qualifications-based process pursuant to North Carolina General Statute 143-64.31, evaluating firms on their expertise in public school specifications, project management, and service capability. Preference may be given to resident North Carolina firms. Proposals must be submitted by 3:00 p.m. on September 28, 2026, and must include five physical copies and one digital copy on a thumb drive. Submissions must not include specific site designs or proposed costs. The selected firm will be required to provide proof of licensing and insurance and execute both payment and performance bonds.
