AI Contract Overview
The City of Pensacola is seeking qualified firms to conduct a comprehensive lighting assessment along its high injury crash network to enhance roadway safety through improved illumination, guided by a Vision Zero commitment to eliminate fatalities and serious injuries. The project will involve a detailed inventory of existing lighting infrastructure, a gap analysis identifying deficiencies, and the development of design guidance tailored to the built environment and the needs of all road users, including pedestrians, wheelchair users, and others with mobility challenges. The assessment will incorporate best practices from industry literature, including smart and solar lighting technologies, and will utilize the City’s standard pole and fixture models as a foundation. The work will culminate in a city-wide lighting policy that establishes clear illumination criteria and minimum lighting levels to inform future installations and citizen requests. Deliverables include a prioritized list of areas for new lighting, an interactive ArcGIS map displaying current conditions and relevant data layers such as land use and roadway classification, and a spreadsheet documenting inventory details like lighting locations and illuminance standards. The firm will also produce a final report synthesizing the literature review, design guidance, analysis of conditions, and recommendations, along with public engagement materials to communicate findings and gather community input. A public workshop and a presentation to the City Council are required to ensure transparency and stakeholder involvement. The solicitation, numbered 73898175, was posted on July 30, 2026, with responses due by August 28, 2026, and pertains specifically to roadways within Pensacola, Florida, under the agency’s jurisdiction.
