This firm fixed price contract, identified by solicitation SPRTA1-12-R-0080, is for the procurement of aircraft turbine disks for the TF33 engine. The requirement specifies a maximum quantity of 91 units, with a primary delivery of 71 units required by April 30, 2013. Due to the high complexity and criticality of the components, the government has limited approved sources to manufacturers who have completed specific design testing, with United Technologies Corp listed as a current qualified source. The government intends to solicit and negotiate with a limited number of sources under FAR 6.302, potentially awarding the requirement under the Pratt and Whitney Corporate Contract. While the government is not utilizing commercial item policies, interested parties may submit capability statements for consideration. All solicitation materials are handled electronically via fbo.gov, and an Ombudsman has been appointed to address contractor concerns during the proposal development phase.
