AI Contract Overview

This contract pertains to the procurement of aircraft compressor blades used in TF39 engines, specifically identified by NSN 2840-00-110-5989NY and part number K648P37. The solicitation, issued electronically, anticipates awarding a firm fixed-price contract with quantities ranging from a minimum of 8 to a maximum of 534 blades, or potentially a surplus quantity starting at 8 units. These compressor fan blades are critical engine components that facilitate the compression of air and balance of exhaust gas pressures, essential for jet propulsion. The item has been previously sourced from General Electric under an earlier contract in 2010, indicating continuity in supplier selection. This is a non-competitive, sole-source procurement justified under federal acquisition regulations due to limited availability from only a few responsible sources. The solicitation process is conducted electronically, with strict communication protocols for requesting solicitation documents. While all responsible sources may submit proposals, the acquisition is limited to those capable of meeting the government’s specific requirements, which do not align with commercial item acquisition policies. An appointed Ombudsman is available to address concerns confidentially during proposal development, though they do not influence the selection process. Contact details for contract negotiation inquiries are provided, and export controls are not applicable to this procurement.
