This contract action is for the procurement of Turbine Nozzle Assemblies for the F118 engine, specifically designed to direct exhaust gases against the first stage LPT blades. These circular components are constructed from titanium alloy and include a stationary air seal, outer support, and honeycomb air seals. The government intends to solicit this requirement as a sole source procurement from General Electric Aircraft Engines, as the supplies are determined to be available from only one or a limited number of responsible sources. The solicitation involves multiple quantity ranges, with a base requirement of 7 units. Potential awardees must meet specific qualification requirements established prior to October 1984. While price is a significant evaluation factor, the final award decision may also be based on past performance. The anticipated award date was set for March 16, 2004, with an ombudsman appointed to handle contractor concerns during the proposal development phase.
