The Department of Defense, through NAVSUP Weapon Systems Support in Philadelphia, is seeking a sole source contractor, specifically General Electric Co., to repair and modify two units of combustion liners for the F-18 fighter jet used by Kuwait. The contract involves providing labor, materials, and facilities necessary to restore these government-owned components to operational condition. The government does not possess the required data for repairs or manufacturing, which is why only an approved source can perform the work under the authority of FAR 6.302-1. Although the government intends to award the contract without competition, other responsible sources may submit capability statements within five days of the notice, but the decision to consider such responses remains at the government's discretion. Source approval is mandatory, and the process will not delay contract award, as the approval timeline typically cannot accommodate a delay. Interested parties must submit the necessary documentation for source approval along with their proposals, as detailed in the NAVSUP-WSS Source Approval Information Brochure.
