Full Description

This is a sole source acquisition made in accordance with FAR 13.16-1(b)(1) which authorizes non-competitive procurment actions based upon the need for a specific "Brand Name" product. This agency utilizes an Information Technology (IT) solution developed and configured by VITEC, Inc. to provide enterprise-wide webcasting services. The Internet Protocol Television (aka "IPTV") system requires upgrade of the Encoder Blade unit to maintain its present level of functionality and operability. The substitution o equipment supplied by vendors other than VITEC, Inc. will require a substantial financial re-investment to conduct validation studies; as well as result in the cessation of webcasting services for an undetermined amount of time. Additionally, system maintenance operations, provided by VITEC, Inc. would be hampered and/or agreements voided by such a substitution of hardware/software. To ensure compatibility among system components, the continuity of webcasting operations and future maintenance of the system an award to VITEC, Inc. in the amount of $22,080.00 on a non-competitive basis was determined to be justified and in the best interest of the Government.
