Roomers, Inc. will manage registration on behalf of Overseas Buildings Operations (OBO) for their third Industry Day event scheduled on October 13, 2004, at the Ronald Reagan Building from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The registration fee has been set at $100, with interested participants able to register online by October 11, 2004, or in person at the event site via the Pennsylvania Avenue entrance check-in booth. This event aims to broaden OBO’s network of contractors and service providers engaged in a wide range of building-related industries, including real estate services, architectural and engineering consulting, construction, maintenance, and specialized systems installation focusing on sustainability and security. OBO is particularly seeking firms that supply construction materials and technologies with a focus on sustainability, high-performance capabilities, and resilience against threats such as blasts and biochemical hazards. Companies interested in contracts that involve security-sensitive work must be able to obtain facility security clearances; the Department of State offers sponsorship for this process to those selected or pre-qualified firms lacking clearances. Key contacts for this registration and event include Denise A Williams and Linda G Patton, who serve as Procurement Technician and Contract Specialist, respectively. The Department of State, Overseas Buildings Operations, continues to expand the base of firms with which it does business. To that end, OBO will host its third Industry Day on Wednesday, October 13, 2004 at the Ronald Reagan Building. Industry Day hours are: 10:00am - 4:00pm. OBO uses an industry-wide, cross-section of services, equipment, construction and operations for its embassy facilities around the world. The technical expertise that is required runs the gamut of the building industry. Real estate service providers are used in support of acquisitions and disposal actions (including brokerage, marketing and appraisals). Planning, architectural, engineering, interior design and general construction services are used, as well as maintenance services and generator, roof and fire protection systems replacements. We are interested in construction materials and building components that promote sustainability and high performance, and other new technology. There is a growing demand to supply building components and systems that can withstand blast and bio-chemical environmental security and operational compromise. After selection for a contract or after pre-qualification for any contracts that require a security clearance, firms and vendors must have or be able to obtain a facility security clearance. The Department of State will sponsor those selected or pre-qualified firms that do not possess facility clearances.
