Next Generation Tactical Radio (NGTR)
Solicitation # N00421-27-RFPREQ-TPM209-0199
The Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) is conducting market research to identify capable firms for the development of the Next Generation Tactical Radio (NGTR). This modular Software Defined Radio (SDR) is intended to replace the AN/ARC-210 Generation 5 and 6 radios for U.S. Navy and Marine Corps aircraft. The system must support voice and data waveforms in the VHF and UHF bands with operational capabilities extending up to 6 GHz. Key technical requirements include a modular High Assurance Device (HAD) to meet NSA cryptographic and SERD standards, adherence to Zero Trust System security and Risk Management Framework (RMF) controls, and compliance with TEMPEST standards. The NGTR is designed for minimal integration impact on existing platforms and must incorporate predictive maintenance strategies and proactive obsolescence management. This effort is currently in the pre-solicitation phase under NAICS code 334220. The government is seeking industry feedback on the feasibility of the proposed timeline, which anticipates a final RFP in the fourth quarter of FY27, an award in the second quarter of FY28, and production-ready fleet delivery by mid-2034. Qualified contractors must demonstrate experience in agile modular development, Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), and the ability to obtain Top Secret security clearances. Responses to this Request for Information are due by November 23, 2026, and will be used to determine the acquisition method and the potential for small business set-aside opportunities.

MIDS WDL SF3 Radio
Solicitation # N0003927R0003
Solicitation N0003927R0003, issued by the Naval Information Warfare Systems Command, seeks a contractor for the design, development, and qualification of the Multifunctional Information Distribution System (MIDS) Weapons Data Link (WDL) Small Form Factor (SFF) Weapons Attritable Radio Multi-Mode (SWARMM) Family 3 (SF3) radio. The project requires maturing a software-defined radio with Waveform-L and Waveform-S communications capabilities and embedded encryption, leveraging Open System Architecture (OCS 2.0) to align with the Open Mission Systems model. Key deliverables include the development of all necessary software, firmware, hardware, and digital models for Contractor First Article Qualification Testing, as well as the delivery of ten Proof of Development units and one hundred Proof of Manufacturing units.
