The U.S. Department of State plans to exercise the second option period of its existing contract with Motorola, Inc. for the procurement of various Land Mobile Radio (LMR) equipment and accessories. In addition to the equipment purchase, the contract scope will be expanded to include installation services. This sole source contract supports the Department’s wireless communication needs related to diplomatic security, regional operations, the United Nations General Assembly activities, and other essential functions. The contract is structured as an indefinite quantity/indefinite delivery agreement with one base year and four option years. The specified LMR equipment includes base stations, tone remotes, receivers, mobile radios, and handheld units, all requiring features such as Mobile Data Communication (MDC) signaling, Digital Encryption Standard (DES XL) certification by NIST, and compatibility with UHF and VHF bands at narrow bandwidths of 12.5/25 KHz. The system must comply with APCO 25/Common Air Interface protocols to ensure a secure and reliable digital communication infrastructure aligned with current DoS wireless systems already deployed by Motorola. No new solicitation will be issued, and interested parties may contact the Department of State’s Office of Acquisitions for more information.
