AI Contract Overview

Sandia National Laboratories is developing advanced technologies aimed at detecting and interdicting prohibited radioactive materials. These innovations focus on minimizing false alarms triggered by non-threatening sources such as medical radionuclides and naturally occurring radioactive materials, thus improving the accuracy and reliability of radiological detection systems. Additionally, the technologies are capable of monitoring radiation from moving sources, enhancing the effectiveness of interdiction efforts. Sandia is actively seeking industrial partners, especially those with expertise in radiological detection and identification instrumentation and a proven ability to transition successful prototypes into commercial products. Interested parties are invited to collaborate in further refining and commercializing these technologies by responding by September 23, 2002. Potential partners should demonstrate how their capabilities could contribute to the advancement and market deployment of these detection solutions. Communication for participation is directed to Alane Dulski at Sandia National Laboratories via mail or fax, with detailed information requested regarding the firm’s role and response to the solicitation notice.

Full Description

Sandia National Laboratories is working towards developing technologies used to interdict prohibited radioactive materials. The technologies developed by Sandia can be used to reduce nuisance alarms produced by benign sources, such as medical radionuclides or naturally occurring radioactive materials. These Sandia developed technologies may also be used to operate systems that monitor radiation from moving sources, which is applicable to the interdiction of prohibited radioactive materials. Sandia National Laboratories is seeking partners to be a part of this effort. Of particular value would be industrial participants with experience in providing a path to market following a successful prototype demonstration. Expertise in the area of radiological detection and identification instrumentation is especially appropriate. For further information, please respond by mail or fax to Alane Dulski by September 23, 2002 at: Sandia National Laboratories, MS 0115, P.O. Box 5800, Albuquerque, New Mexico 87185-0115. Fax +1 (555) 000-0000. Please indicate the date and title of the FBO notice and describe the manner in which your firm could best contribute to the further development or commercialization of this technology.
