This contract involves the procurement of 38 pulsed microwave amplifier electron tubes, identified by NSN 5960013415198WF and part numbers 585R224H04 and L-5644-58. The components must be constructed from aluminum alloys and oxygen-free high-conductivity copper conforming to MIL-E-5400 standards. The items are destined for delivery to Barstow, California, with the solicitation process utilizing electronic procedures and a reverse auction provision. The government intends to solicit and negotiate with a limited number of sources under FAR 6.302 due to the requirement for engineering source approval. Because the approved sources retain essential data rights and unique manufacturing knowledge necessary to maintain part quality, any alternate source must undergo a rigorous qualification process approved by the government engineering activity. Small businesses interested in subcontracting are encouraged to contact L-3 Communications or Northrop Grumman.
