The U.S. Army RDECOM Contracting Center, Natick Division, plans to award a firm fixed price purchase order to Protonex Technology Corporation for the provision of a small, soldier portable power manager designed to regulate and distribute power across soldier systems. The device will be compatible with SNPLI soldier system components, which derive from USAF Battlefield Air Operations technology, ensuring integration with existing systems. Protonex is uniquely positioned to deliver this solution since it is the sole manufacturer and retailer of the SPM611 and SPM612 Soldier Power Manager units, allowing them to customize software and firmware specifically to the SNPLI system requirements. The solicitation, posted on January 27, 2010, under solicitation number W91A2K-0006-1031 and NAICS code 335999, is being handled by the Department of Defense's Natick office in Massachusetts.
