The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Network Contracting Office 2, has issued a Notice of Intent to pursue a sole source, non-competitive procurement with Abbott Laboratories for a consistent supply of various types and sizes of surgical stents. This procurement approach is necessary to maintain an adequate inventory to support surgical events where specific stent requirements cannot be predetermined, thereby allowing stock turnover before product expiration. Abbott Laboratories has been identified as the only responsible source capable of fulfilling this requirement, in accordance with federal acquisition regulations. This notice serves as an announcement of the anticipated non-competitive contract, not a solicitation for proposals, and no funds have been committed or obligated at this stage. The contract, anticipated under NAICS code 339113 for surgical appliance manufacturing, will follow regulations set forth in FAR Parts 12 and 16, and the sole source designation is authorized under FAR 13.106(b). The place of performance is the Albany VA Medical Center in Albany, New York. Respondents are cautioned that any information submitted will not entitle them to compensation and that the Government is under no obligation to respond to or use any submitted information beyond market research purposes.
