AI Contract Overview

The Department of Veterans Affairs, specifically the VA Puget Sound Health Care System, has issued a justification for a non-competitive procurement of acute care adult volume ventilators, including hardware, accessories, and software. The total cost of the procurement is 294,881.49 dollars. This acquisition is designated as a sole source award to Video Telecommunication Inc., a Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business, utilizing statutory authority that allows the VA to contract directly with such entities. The decision to bypass full and open competition is based on the need for equipment compatibility and continuity of care. The selected equipment is identical to systems already in use at the facility and ensures seamless integration with existing parts, training, and standard operating procedures. Additionally, the equipment maintains compatibility with the University of Washington Pulmonary department and Harbor View Medical Center, which is essential for the training of Pulmonary Fellows and students. The price was determined to be fair and reasonable through a comparison with previous purchases and an additional vendor discount.
