The Federal Bureau of Prisons U.S. Medical Center for Federal Prisoners in Springfield, Missouri, intends to award a sole source, firm-fixed price purchase order to Henry Schein Inc. for specialized dialysis supplies. The procurement includes MediSystems Ready Set blood tubing, Arterial/Venous Fistula Needles, and potentially Streamline Airless Blood Tubing. These specific products are required because they are calibrated to the facility's transonic machines, which is critical for ensuring the accuracy of blood flow and maintaining patient care standards. The anticipated contract period runs from October 1, 2009, through September 30, 2010, with estimated quantities of 720 cases of blood tubing and 130 cases of fistula needle sets. While the government intends to proceed with Henry Schein Inc. under FAR Part 6.302-1, other firms were given the opportunity to provide written notification and supporting evidence of their ability to meet these requirements by September 1, 2009, to demonstrate that competition would be advantageous to the government.
