The Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, VISN6 Central Acquisition Service, plans to negotiate a sole source procurement contract with Garson Stadler Inc. for specific audiology equipment and supplies intended for the Community-Based Outpatient Clinic in Hickory, North Carolina. This procurement will be conducted without issuing a competitive solicitation in accordance with federal regulations permitting sole source acquisitions when only one responsible source is capable of fulfilling the agency's requirements. Although this is not a request for competitive quotes, other firms interested in meeting these requirements may submit written evidence demonstrating their capability by May 7, 2010, for consideration. The contract includes a detailed list of audiology-related items such as clinical audometers, language kits, cable kits, insert phones, sound field speakers, tympanometers, Audera systems, bone vibrator transducers, desktop computers, tiptrodes, Verifit real ear systems, external speakers, barcode scanners, and replacement parts. Quantities range from one to two units or packages per item, reflecting a comprehensive acquisition tailored to support the audiology services at the specified VA facility. The ultimate decision to proceed with a sole source contract or to conduct a competitive procurement rests solely with the government based on any responses received.
