The Department of Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration, Network Contracting Office 17, plans to award a firm-fixed price standing-order contract for 12 months to bioMerieux for the procurement of specific reagents and consumable supplies compatible with bioMerieux VITEK 2 analyzers, which the government already owns. The contract covers a comprehensive list of items including various identification cards, ETEST strips for multiple antibiotics, standards, and AST cards, with quantities specified for each. Four additional 12-month options are possible for all line items. This sole source contract is justified on the basis that the government requires supplies fully compatible in form, fit, and function with bioMerieux brand analyzers, making bioMerieux the only responsible source under the statutory authority permitting non-competitive procurement. This notice serves as a formal intention to award but is not a solicitation for quotes or proposals. Interested parties may submit capability statements or proposals within five days of the notice, which will be considered only to evaluate if another source could meet the needs more advantageously. If no adequate response is received, the contract will be awarded directly to bioMerieux without further notice. Communications and responses must be directed to the specified point of contact via email, as they do not monitor vendor lists or other registration portals. The procurement will proceed under the classification of an open market pricing agreement and is governed by regulatory provisions that allow for sole source awards when no alternative providers can fulfill agency requirements.
