65--Cardiac resynchronization pacemaker internalcardioverter - defibrilattor

This is a notice of intent of The Louis Stokes Cleveland, Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, 10000 Brecksville Road, Brecksville, Ohio 44141 to negotiate, using sole source procurement procedures, with Medtronic, a large business, to provide a model C154DWK Cardiac Resynchronization Internal Cardioverter-Defibrillator/Pacemaker and leads due to its unique Pain Free Shock, Anti-Tachycardia pacing, and Wireless monitoring features for the treatment of patients suffering from heart failure, specifically NYHA Class 3 HF patients. The government believes that only one business can satisfy the agency requirements and intends to negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 13.106 (b). Other persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to this requirement by 4:00pm May 2, 2007. Such information will be used solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. No solicitation will be made available and all information shall be furnished at no cost or obligation to the government. A determination by the government not to open the requirement to competition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government.
