The Department of Veterans Affairs plans to enter into a sole source contract with Karl Storz Endoscopy-America Inc. to lease a total of four Flexible Cystoscopes and fifteen Flexible Video Cystoscopes along with their associated trays. This procurement is intended to upgrade the existing Karl Storz cystoscopy equipment at the Chalmers P. Wylie VA Ambulatory Care Center in Columbus, which currently uses a variety of Karl Storz products and accessories, including the Telepak X Video system that is compatible only with Karl Storz video cystoscopes. Due to the exclusive compatibility and vendor-specific nature of the equipment and accessories, the VA has determined that Karl Storz Endoscopy-America Inc. is the sole capable provider to meet the agency’s requirements. This acquisition is conducted under the authority of FAR 6.302, which allows negotiations with a single source when no other vendor can satisfy the agency’s needs. While this is a sole source action, the VA has issued a notice inviting any other firms who believe they can meet the requirements to submit written notification within seven calendar days of the notice publication, including sufficient supporting details. Should no suitable alternatives come forward, the VA will proceed with sole source negotiations with Karl Storz Endoscopy-America Inc. The contract falls under NAICS code 334510 and is managed by the VA Network Contract Office 10 located in Dayton, Ohio.
