INTENT TO SOLE SOURCE The Corporal Michael J. Crescenz VA Medical Center intends to negotiate on a sole source basis with Biofire, 515 Colorow Drive, Salt Lake City, Utah 84108, U.S.A. to replace existing Biofire equipment, in accordance with FAR 13.106-1. Biofire is the sole manufacturer and distributor of the required items. This Notice of Intent is NOT a request for competitive proposals. Parties may identify their interest; accompanied by supporting literature, to the Contracting Officer no later than 8/22/18 at 10 AM EST. ALL Responses should be sent to contact@example.gov. No telephone responses will be accepted. Information received will be for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct a competitive procurement. Independence Mall West, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania 19106 Statement of Need General Scope: The contractor shall be responsible for providing instrumentation for performing respiratory virus testing. Current Biofire equipment is outdated and will no longer be supported. There is already a contract in place for reagents. The instrumentation is an upgrade for what is currently in place. The new instrumentation: Must be compatible with Biofire rapid respiratory reagents Can perform DNA/RNA extraction, purification and highly multiplexed PCR. Can generate, detect and analyze PCR melting curves. The analysis includes a meta-analysis of all applicable controls and gene targets required for determination of a single result for each organism included in the multiplex reaction. Can support fluorescence acquisition LED excitation. Processes reagent pouches to detect multiple nucleic acid targets contained in clinical specimens. Sensitivity and specificity of the System is comparable to that of common commercially available real-time PCR instruments. Requires approximately two minutes for set up and completes a run in about one hour. Is capable of simultaneous analysis of up to 20 respiratory targets, 27 blood culture targets, 22 gastrointestinal targets and 14 meningitis/encephalitis targets. Ships with a Microsoft Windows®-based computer and analysis software or equivalent. Has bar code reading capability. Is fully automated following initial run set-up. Contains all necessary reagents for sample prep, PCR, and detection and reagents can be stored at room temperature.
