The Federal Medical Center (FMC Butner), under the Federal Bureau of Prisons, plans to issue a sole source purchase order to PetNet, located in Durham, NC, for the supply of isotopes used in PET scans. This procurement is justified under FAR Part 6.302-1, indicating there is only one responsible source capable of meeting the agency’s requirements. The isotopes in question have a very short half-life of 108 minutes, necessitating their prompt delivery within this timeframe to remain viable for PET scan procedures. PetNet is identified as the only local vendor near FMC Butner capable of timely delivery, making competitive sourcing impractical. The relevant NAICS code for this procurement is 446110. This notice does not represent a solicitation for competitive bids; however, other firms that can demonstrate their ability to fulfill these requirements may submit a written or faxed notification within five calendar days from the notice's publication date, including sufficient supporting evidence. Responses will be considered, but the decision to proceed without competition rests solely with the government. If no responses are received within the specified period, FMC Butner will move forward with awarding the purchase order to PetNet.
