65--Medtronic Navigation system upgrade

The Centralized Acquisition Service, VISN 6 intends to negotiate a sole source procurement with Medtronic Navigation for the purchase of system upgrades for the VA Medical Center, Richmond, Virginia. This proposed contract action is for system upgrades for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with one source under the authority of FAR 603.2. The VA believes that Medtronic Navigation is the only company that can provide the updates, both hardware and software, required for their system. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotes. No solicitation document is available and telephone requests will not be accepted. However, any firm that believes it can meet these requirements may give written notification to the Contracting Officer within 7 days from the date of publication of this announcement. Supporting evidence must be in sufficient detail to demonstrate the ability to comply with the above requirements to upgrade the existing system. Information may be sent to the Contracting Office, VA Medical Center, Hampton, Va. 23667. Responses received will be evaluated however, a determination by the Government to compete the proposed procurement based on the responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. If no responses are received, the VA Medical Center will proceed with the sole source negotiation with Medtronic Navigation.
