The Department of Veterans Affairs, Network Contracting Office 7, plans to negotiate a sole-source contract with American Purchasing Services, operating as American Medical Depot, to supply Stryker Prime Zoom motorized stretchers and related accessories to the Carl Vinson VA Medical Center. The contract, targeting around August 20, 2013, includes six units each of motorized stretchers and various accessories such as side rail releases, foot end nursing controls, transfer boards, pump racks, IV poles, and other associated equipment. Additionally, it covers a two-year service agreement including parts, labor, and travel, as well as relevant manuals and labels for the Endoscopy Department. This procurement is intended to standardize motorized stretchers in the Ambulatory Surgical Care Unit, as existing equipment already features the specified brand. This sole-source action is justified under the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 6.302-1(b)(1)(i), citing that only one responsible source exists that can fulfill the agency’s requirements, thus precluding the solicitation of competitive bids. Although this notice is not a request for competitive quotes, interested parties were invited to express their interest and capability by August 16, 2013, for consideration in potential future competitive procurements. Any information provided would be at no cost to the government and used solely to assess the possibility of conducting a competitive process, while the decision to proceed without competition remains at the government's sole discretion.
