The Department of Veterans Affairs, through the Louis Stokes Cleveland VA Medical Center, plans to enter into sole source negotiations with NeuroNexus for the procurement of nerve cuff electrodes. These electrodes are intended specifically for implantation in human nerves and associated muscle groups to assist upper extremity amputee subjects. The agency is invoking the FAR 6.302-1(a)(2) authority, which allows for contracting with only one responsible source when no other suppliers can satisfactorily meet the requirements. The purpose of this notice is to inform potential interested parties and invite them to demonstrate their capability to fulfill the contract by a specified deadline; however, the Government retains sole discretion to proceed without competition. This action relates to solicitation number VA250-16-Q-0608, posted on August 23, 2016, under NAICS code 334510, which pertains to electronic component manufacturing. The Government emphasizes that no solicitation currently exists, and all inquiries must be directed via email to the designated contact. Responses from other entities will be reviewed solely to determine if a competitive procurement is warranted. The sole source justification is grounded on the belief that only NeuroNexus can meet the specialized needs for neural electrode technology required by the Veterans Health Administration.
