The Western Regional Contracting Office of MEDCOM in Tacoma, WA intends to award a firm fixed-price contract valued at approximately $67,500 to Simbionix USA Corp for upgrade training modules specific to the Simbionix Laparoscopy Simulator located at the Anderson Simulation Center. The software required for this upgrade is proprietary to Simbionix, which precludes the possibility of sourcing it from any other vendor. This action falls under FAR Part 6.302-1, allowing the government to negotiate and award the contract to a single source due to the unique nature of the software. Although the government plans to award this contract without competition, interested parties are invited to express their interest and capability to fulfill the requirement or submit proposals within 45 days of the synopsis publication (or 30 days if under a basic ordering agreement). However, this notice is not a request for competitive proposals, and any decision not to compete will be at the sole discretion of the government. Responses received will be considered primarily to determine whether a competitive procurement should be pursued.
