The Department of Veterans Affairs, VISN 02 Network Contracting Office 2, has issued a Notice of Intent to Sole Source with Cook Medical for the procurement of Micro Coils and Regular Coils of various sizes. This announcement serves solely to inform parties of the Government’s intention to engage in a non-competitive procurement under FAR 13.106-1(b), as Cook Medical is identified as the sole responsible source capable of meeting the specific medical device requirements. The coils are necessary for the Syracuse VA Medical Center under a consignment agreement to maintain a complete inventory of devices that are critical for preventing death from unforeseen complications or destructive disease processes. There is a need for varied sizes without a fixed usage pattern, enabling un-used coils to be rotated prior to expiration, ensuring readiness and minimizing waste. This notice is not a solicitation or request for technical or cost proposals and does not authorize contract negotiations or funding allocation at this time. No direct or indirect costs will be reimbursed for responses to this announcement, which is strictly informational. The procurement is anticipated to proceed under FAR Parts 12 and 16, and the NAICS code associated is 339113, with the applicable size standard set at 750 employees. The Government’s discretion solely governs the decision not to compete this requirement. Point of contact for further information is Sally L Gaerte, Contracting Officer for the Syracuse VA Medical Center. This notification complies with statutory and regulatory publicizing requirements but does not represent binding contractual commitments.
