The Department of Veterans Affairs Network Contracting Office 7 intends to award a sole source contract to Hill-Rom, Inc. for nineteen Progressa PRO-885 intensive care unit beds. These beds, which include nurse rails, casters, and a chair egress frame design, are destined for the Ralph H Johnson VAMC in Charleston, South Carolina. The procurement is being conducted under FSS Schedule 65 II A, SIN A-69, to support an Intensive Care Unit Expansion Project and replace aging equipment. The decision to use a sole source award is based on the need for continuity of care and operational efficiency, as the facility already utilizes Hill-Rom systems. The Progressa PRO-885 beds offer specialized features such as Stay in Place Technology, Therapy Surface Powered Air, Advanced Microclimate Technology, and integrated x-ray cassettes. Because bed functions vary significantly between brands, maintaining a single manufacturer is deemed necessary to avoid disrupting healthcare operations.
