65 -- Purchase of Real-Time PCR System With High Level of Thermal Performance, Swappable Blacks, and Compact Design

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention plans to issue a sole source purchase order to Government Scientific Source, Inc. for a Bio-Rad instrument bundle featuring advanced thermal performance, swappable blocks, and a compact design. This bundle includes DNA Engine chassis with Alpha Engine 48/48 dual and Alpha Engine 96V-well, as well as Dyad chassis with Alpha Engine 48/48 dual and Alpha Engine 96V-well. The DNA engine cycler is versatile, able to convert to a DNA Engine Opticon 2 system for two-color real-time PCR or to be used with a swappable Chromo4 four-color real-time PCR detector, meeting a specific agency need that only this provider can fulfill. This procurement is conducted under the authority of FAR 6.302-1 and 6.302-2 as a sole source acquisition, meaning no competitive solicitation is being issued since only one responsible source is capable of meeting the requirement. The contract is not set aside for small business, and interested parties may still express their interest and capability, although the agency has determined that only Government Scientific Source, Inc. can satisfy the requirements.
