The Department of Veterans Affairs Denver Acquisition and Logistics Center is conducting market research through a Request for Information (RFI) to identify vendors who can supply diabetic socks designed for feet at risk. The solicited products include men's and women's calf or over-the-calf and crew style socks featuring non-prominent seams, non-restrictive fits, made from acrylic and/or blends with natural fibers. These socks must come in black and white at minimum, with possible additional colors at the same price, and have specific features such as padded heels, cushioning under the metatarsal area and toes, be latex-free, colorfast, and available in assorted sizes without increasing shoe size. Vendors are asked to provide detailed information about their product offerings, including size charts for men and women, manufacturing details, company location, and business size. Additional questions include whether the vendor or manufacturer is a U.S. business, the company and manufacturer's employee size, and if the business qualifies as a Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business or Veteran Owned Small Business. Responses must be submitted electronically by March 15, 2013, and will be used to inform the VA's development of a future Request for Proposal or Quote. The government emphasizes that submissions do not constitute an offer and will not result in payment for information or create a binding contract. Vendors are also encouraged to identify any proprietary information and direct any questions to the designated contact by March 8, 2013.
