The contract involves a sole source procurement for AvanDx Peptide Nucleic Acid (PNA) probes intended for use by the Eisenhower Army Medical Center at Fort Gordon, Georgia. The procurement will be conducted under the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Part 12 and 13 guidelines, with the government opting to negotiate directly with AvanDx based on FAR 6.305-1(2) and 6.302 authority, which allows for non-competitive contracting when justified. The BPA (Blanket Purchase Agreement) supplies include various PNA FISH components such as S. Aureus/CNS PNA Fish, control slides, microscope slides, and coverslips. These probes enable rapid infection identification with fewer specificity problems than PCR methods, supporting critical medical diagnostics at the facility. This notice serves as a formal announcement of intent to award the procurement to AvanDx and is not a solicitation or request for proposals. While interested parties may respond with evidence showing that competition could benefit the government in future procurements, responses are not mandatory and must be submitted within four days of the posting. The contract falls under NAICS code 325413, and any inquiries should be addressed to the Southern Regional Contracting Office. The decision to proceed without competition reflects the government's discretion and the unique circumstances surrounding the specialized product involved.
