The Department of Veterans Affairs, James J. Peters Medical Center in Bronx, NY, intends to procure a single PET/CT Ge-68 Phantom exclusively from Siemens Medical Solutions USA, Inc., the original manufacturer of the PET/CT Scanner Biograph System. This procurement will be conducted on a sole source basis in accordance with federal regulations allowing such action when only one responsible source is available. The GE-68 Phantom is required to ensure proper PET Quality Control, as using a phantom other than Siemens' specific solid Germanium-68 model could negatively impact calibration accuracy. Additionally, the vendor must provide a method for safe removal of expired isotopes after their usable life. This notice is not a request for competitive proposals or quotations, though parties interested in demonstrating their capability may submit statements by the specified deadline. The Government reserves discretion over whether to compete the requirement further and is not obligated to award a contract or provide feedback on submissions. Any responses will be reviewed to assess qualifications but will not substitute for formal solicitation responses. The acquisition falls under NAICS code 334517, applicable to medical equipment manufacturing, with a size standard of 1000 employees. Future procurement actions, including a possible formal solicitation, may be announced following review of responses.
