The Louis Stokes Cleveland Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center intends to negotiate a sole source contract with Custom Ultrasonics to supply a specialized medical system designated as the System 83 Plus™. This equipment includes multiple units such as custom narrow cabinet designs, water filtration systems, and alcohol transfer caps. The system is an all-in-one device featuring a computer with Windows software, a stainless steel processing chamber, automatic clear lids, and ultrasonic assemblies designed for the automatic cleaning and disinfecting of endoscopes used in the Gastroenterology and Pulmonary departments. The Government cites proprietary information access under FAR 13.106(b) as the basis for sole source negotiation, believing Custom Ultrasonics to be the only capable provider of this equipment that meets its needs. Interested parties with the capability to fulfill the requirement were invited by a specific deadline to express their interest and provide information to assist in determining if the procurement should proceed competitively. Responses received would be evaluated at the Government's discretion, without any cost or obligation imposed on the respondents. At the time of the notice, no formal solicitation was issued, and all inquiries were directed to a particular contact person by email. This contract facilitates the replacement of automatic endoscope reprocessors critical to maintaining infection control and patient safety in critical medical services at the Cleveland VA Medical Center.
