The Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, through the VISN 6 Network Contracting Office on behalf of the Durham VA Medical Center, is planning to award a firm fixed price, sole source purchase order to Philips Healthcare, a division of Penac, for the repair of X7-2t TEE transducers. The contract involves acquiring a new ultrasonic transducer probe that must meet the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) specifications. This procurement will follow simplified acquisition procedures under FAR 12 and FAR 13, and full and open competition is not required due to the proprietary nature of the component and the necessity to obtain an OEM-certified replacement specific to the Philips EPIQ 7C Ultrasound unit. Although this is not a solicitation for competitive quotes, the government invites interested contractors to submit a narrative outlining their capabilities and qualifications for this work by a specified deadline. Responses will be evaluated solely to determine if a competitive procurement process is warranted. The final decision on whether to proceed with competitive bidding rests entirely with the government. The contract pertains to the NAICS code 334517, reflecting the manufacture of medical ultrasound equipment.
