The Department of Veterans Affairs, through the Regional Procurement Office West and Network Contracting Office 22, is procuring Stryker Open Shoulder Sets for the VA Phoenix Healthcare System. This single source acquisition, valued at 21,726.87 dollars, is conducted under FAR 13.106-1 and FAR 11.105(a), which allows for brand name specifications when essential to government requirements. The equipment is necessary for performing open shoulder arthroplasty procedures for Veteran patients and ensures the continuity of quality care. The requirement is limited to Howmedica Osteonics Corp, doing business as Stryker Orthopaedics, because the requested sets must be compatible and interchangeable with existing Stryker shoulder implant systems and instrumentation currently utilized at the facility. Market research conducted via DSBS, GSA, FPDS, and other internet sources confirmed that Stryker is the only vendor capable of providing the specific sets required. This procurement is aligned with the Surgical Implants Next Generation Ordering Guide and is supported by existing contract 36C10G24D0041.
