The Department of Veteran Affairs' Consolidated Mail-Out Pharmacy (CMOP) intends to award a sole source contract to Medline Industries, LP for the procurement of cloth masks, specifically item #JK178 (3Pkg). This one-time purchase is driven by an urgent and compelling need to supply personal protective equipment to caregivers supporting veterans in Medical Foster Homes who are receiving selected home health care services. The procurement is justified under federal regulations that allow for sole source awards when only one responsible source can meet the immediate short-term requirement, enabling the agency to quickly fulfill urgent PPE needs without engaging in a competitive bidding process. The contract is identified under solicitation number 36C77022P0489, posted by the National CMOP Office, part of the Department of Veterans Affairs, located in Leavenworth, Kansas. While this notice is not a request for quotes, interested parties are invited to contact the designated contracting officer, Larry Zaritz, via email to express their capability to provide similar products for future needs. The procurement authority is based on FAR provisions addressing sole source awards under urgent requirements, reflecting a focused effort to ensure timely delivery of essential protective gear to support the veteran care community.
