The Department of Veterans Affairs at the Cleveland Veteran Affairs Medical Center plans to award a sole source contract for instruments and camera equipment, specifically designed to integrate with existing Karl Storz equipment currently in use in their Operating Room. This procurement will be conducted under the authority of FAR 13.106(b)(1)(i), allowing negotiation with only one source due to the unique compatibility requirements of the camera heads and cords with their current system. The VA intends to solicit and negotiate exclusively with Karl Storz Endoscopy-America, located in El Segundo, CA. They have set a deadline for other interested parties to submit capabilities information by July 20, 2020, which will help the government decide whether to maintain the sole source approach or open the requirement for competition. The notice emphasizes that any submitted information from other vendors must be provided at no cost and without any obligation to the government. If the government decides not to pursue competitive procurement, that decision will be entirely at their discretion. At this time, there is no solicitation available for public viewing, and all inquiries must be directed via email to Rachelle Hamer at the Department of Veterans Affairs.
