AI Contract Overview
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) has issued a Sources Sought Notice/Request for Information (RFI) seeking information from potential suppliers capable of providing surgical helmet equipment equivalent to the Stryker Steri-Shield 8 brand. The intent of this RFI is purely for market research and planning purposes and does not constitute a solicitation or a promise of future contract awards. The VA is interested in identifying qualified sources, including their size classification under NAICS code 339113, to support acquisition decisions related to surgical helmets, helmet models with integrated LED lighting, compatible battery chargers, and battery packs. The quantities requested include 10 surgical helmets, 4 helmets with LEDs, 3 battery chargers, and 18 battery packs. Suppliers are asked to demonstrate how their products meet specific performance and design criteria, such as AAMI barrier performance standards, breathability, infection control features, and seamless helmet assembly technology. Respondents must also provide information about their business size, certifications (e.g., SDVOSB, WOSB), compliance with the Buy American Act, product lifecycle, FDA clearance status, and contracting capabilities, including any Federal Supply Schedules or government contracts held. Pricing information and delivery lead times are encouraged for planning purposes. Responses must be submitted by June 16, 2026, to the designated VA contact and will not create any obligation on the part of the government. This RFI process will help the VA shape future procurement actions related to this specialty surgical equipment.
