The Department of Veterans Affairs, through Network Contracting Office 17, is conducting market research to identify potential vendors capable of supplying a fully integrated MRI-compatible projector system for use at the VISN 17 Center of Excellence in Waco, Texas. The requirement is specific to the Hyperion 2-120 MRI Digital Projection System, along with the accompanying Hyperion Short-Throw Lens and MRI-Compatible Pedestal Projector Stand, all manufactured by Psychology Software Tools (PST). The system must be engineered with non-magnetic materials and RF shielding to operate safely within the high magnetic field environment of an MRI suite, and it must include a 30-meter fiber optic cable, temperature-controlled fan system with thermal cut-out, remote control, and a control room console with an LCD touchscreen. Crucially, the system must integrate seamlessly with existing PST equipment including E-Prime stimulus software, MR-safe response boxes, Brain Vision systems, and Eyelink eye trackers, ensuring millisecond-level timing accuracy essential for research validity. The vendor is also required to provide on-site training for technical and designated personnel. Responses must include detailed business information such as the Legal Business Name, Address, Point of Contact with phone and email, SAM UID and current registration status with expiration date, NAICS code 339112, business size classification as Small or Large, and any applicable socioeconomic designations such as SDVOSB, VOSB, 8(a), HUBZone, or WOSB. Also required are any applicable GSA or VA FSS contract numbers and the place of manufacturing. All submissions must be sent via email to Rafael.Rodriguez2@va.gov and Francisco.Mendoza@va.gov with the exact subject line “36C25726Q0685, Sources Sought Notice” no later than 11:00 AM CT on June 29, 2026. This notice serves solely as a market research tool to assess vendor capability and determine potential set-asides and does not constitute a solicitation or binding contract. The requirement stems from the need to replace an aging Hyperion 1 system, where replacement with any other vendor’s system would entail prohibitive costs and integration challenges due to the bespoke compatibility of existing hardware and software infrastructure. No pricing, contract value, delivery schedule, or evaluation factors are included since this is a pre-solicitation outreach.

General Info

VA seeks MRI-compatible Hyperion 2-120 system with sync, fiber, console, training; must integrate with existing PST hardware.

Page 4 of 4 Page 1 of Page 1 of This market research notice is being conducted by Network Contracting Office (NCO) 17- VA South Texas (VASTHCS) facilities.
The VISN 17 Center of Excellence, located at 4800 Memorial Drive, Building 93, MRI W93, Waco, TX 76711 has requested an MRI Compatible Projector. Vendor will provide a system that meets the outlined specifications below. Additionally, vendor will provide training for Techs and other designated personnel.
The center requires the Hyperion 2 projection system from Psychology Software Tools (PST) specifically. It is designed to display visual stimuli in an MRI environment. Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) utilizes powerful magnetic fields, which can be dangerous to people and machinery if the equipment is not properly engineered and tested. The projector s electrical components and stands must be built from non-magnetic materials and must work with a system of mirrors to allow the participant to view visual displays while in the middle of the MR machine. As you can imagine this is problematic for computerized machinery, particularly since all components and cables must also be shielded by radio-frequency pulses sent out by the MR machine. Due to these difficulties and strict safety guidelines, few companies produce MRI compatible visual display systems. All items listed below are required to complete our Projector system needs: Stock Number Item Description OrderQuantity PST-101891 Hyperion 2-120 MRI Digital Projection System 1 PST-101322R Hyperion Short-Throw Lens 1 PST-102627 MRI-Compatible Pedestal Projector Stand 1 Part number descriptions: PST-101891: Hyperion 2-120 MRI Digital Projection System: Hyperion 2-120 - High resolution (1920x1080) DLP Projector with automatic frame synchronization at 60Hz or 120Hz, RF filtered enclosure, temperature-controlled fan operation with thermal cut-out sensor ensures adequate cooling. Includes a Remote Control, 30 Meter Fiber Cable, and Control Room Console with LCD touchscreen display. PST-101322R: Hyperion Short-Throw Lens: Short-throw lens for use with Hyperion 2-120 MRI Digital Projection System. PST-102627: MRI-Compatible Pedestal Projector Stand: Hyperion 2-120 MRI-Compatible Projector Pedestal Stand with locking caster wheels. Additional Information: Our MRI lab is already fitted with an aging Hyperion 1 system, that is uniquely compatible with a number of different (non-projector) machines and software. This includes optimized integration with other PST products such as MR-safe button-response boxes and E-Prime stimulus presentation software (e.g., used to display images or administer experimental tasks), which records timing information with millisecond accuracy and shares this with other concurrently recording machines (i.e., MRI-pulses, eye-tracker, central and peripheral nervous systems). Unlike most other stimuli presentation software, the software is explicitly compatible with our other systems (Brain Vision for brain and body system measurements, and Eyelink used for tracking eye movements as a participant views visual displays) and the computer code required to facilitate communication between these systems is readily available. These systems must properly cooperate. Timing is of the utmost importance for our research and PST equipment has software designed for speedy transmission. Additionally, the monetary cost of replacing all the existing projector equipment and cables (e.g., specialized fiber optic cables) would be high as would be the man-hours required to install and adapt a different system into our existing framework.
