The Department of Veterans Affairs issued a sole source notice of intent to negotiate a limited source contract with Arjo, Inc. for the procurement of specialized Arjo Ceiling Lift Motors used by the VA Illiana Health Care System. This acquisition is conducted under FAR 8.405-6, which authorizes non-competitive awards when only one responsible source can meet unique agency requirements; in this case, the lift motors are specifically compatible with the facility’s needs. The contract, identified by solicitation number 36C25226Q0181 and awarded on February 3, 2026, covers only the supply of these lift motors without additional services or installation. The total contract value is $254,860.10, reflecting a firm-fixed-price arrangement without disclosed options or extensions. All communications regarding this procurement, including queries or comments, were to be submitted via email to the contracting officer by February 5, 2026. The procurement references NAICS code 339112, indicating the medical instrument manufacturing category, and aligns with Federal Supply Schedule contracts to facilitate the sole-source purchase. While standard contract clauses, attachments, formal evaluation factors, detailed inspection or acceptance criteria, and invoicing processes are not explicitly documented, the government retains inspection and acceptance authority. The place of performance is linked to the VA Illiana Health Care System, with the contracting office based in Milwaukee, WI. No packaging, marking, bar-coding, or MIL-STD requirements were specified. The contract includes no identified socioeconomic designations, security clearances, or organizational conflict of interest provisions. Overall, this procurement underscores a tailored acquisition approach driven by the unique technical and operational compatibility of Arjo’s ceiling lift motors with the VA facility’s needs, executed as a sole source award to maintain continuity and functionality.
