The Department of Veterans Affairs VA, in accordance with FAR 13.501, intends to issue a sole source Firm-Fixed-Price contract to Satisloh North America Inc. The VA s Optical Fabrication Lab (OFL) has a need to replace failing equipment used in eyeglasses manufacturing. A list of parts being replaced will be provided below this paragraph. Satisloh has sole proprietary rights for its automated surfacing, finishing, and coating lab equipment currently in place at the OFL. The NAICS Code is 339115 and the size standard is 1,000 employees. The statutory authority for restricting competition under Simplified Acquisition Procedures, or Sole Sourcing, is 41 U.S.C. 253(c), as implemented by FAR 13.106-1(b). This notice of intent is not a solicitation or request for offers. No solicitation package is available. A determination not to compete is solely within the discretion of the Government.
