The Department of Veterans Affairs, through its VISN 18 Network Contracting Activity, plans to award a sole source contract to Becton Dickinson Diagnostic Systems located in Sparks, Maryland, to supply test panels, reagents, and consumables compatible with the Medical Center's microbiology instruments at the Phoenix VA Health Care System. This procurement is justified by recent market research indicating that Becton Dickinson is the only capable supplier to meet the medical center's specific needs and to maintain the integrity of the instrument’s warranty. The contract aligns with the North American Industry Classification System code 325413 and falls under the size standard of 100 employees. Although this is a sole source acquisition under FAR 6.302-1, the Department of Veterans Affairs has invited any interested parties who believe they can fulfill the requirements to submit capability statements by July 25, 2011. Submissions will be reviewed solely to determine whether a competitive procurement is necessary, which remains at the government’s discretion. The contract opportunity is managed by the Network Contracting Office 22G, based in Mesa, Arizona, and points of contact include Kristin Tanner, Contract Specialist. This approach ensures continuity in supply and warranty compliance for essential diagnostic materials used by the Phoenix VA Health Care System.
